The story of this movie: The Godfather 2 is the sequel finest ever made and is definitely a thinner film than the original Godfather. The film is divided into two main parts - the story of a young Vito Corleone (impeccably played by Robert De Niro and a worthy winner of the Oscar) and the rise to power of Michael as the head of the family. Francis Coppola recollaborated with many of the crew from the first film and again achieved quite exceptional period piece thanks to the cinematography of Gordon Willis and Dean Tavoularis set design. The acting performances are exceptional, therefore, support three Oscar nominations for acting guru Lee Strasberg (Hyman Roth), Michael Gazzo (Frank Pentangeli) and Robert De Niro (Vito Corleone young). Duvall, Keaton, Cazale and Shire are all first-rate performance, but the performance of Al Pacino who steals the show, playing expertly Michael as a cold, calculating, suspicious Don Corleone. The film expands on the original film and introduces us to the family activities in Nevada, Florida and Havana. Possibly the best film of the 70s, a masterpiece of cinema with the largest set which acts are likely to see.
